Fortnite bushes are causing massive FPS drops frustrating players as its hindering their ability to play the game.
Since the beginning of Fortnite, players have been split on the use of bushes. Some have been on team bush all the way, believing that they provide a bit of reality in an otherwise chaotic game. Others have simply seen them as useless.
Despite this tension, most Fortnite players have not seen bushes in a negative light, until now. Players have discovered that hiding in, or even looking at bushes is having a serious negative impact on gameplay.
A Reddit user called justukasz recently discovered that his FPS, or frames per second, plummeted whenever there was a bush on his screen. He posted a video on the Fortnite Competitive Reddit to share his findings.
Fortnite Bushes Causing Massive FPS Drops
As can be seen in the top right corner of the video, justukasz's average FPS while the bush is on the screen is in the 140s. Once he enters the bush, it goes lower into the 100s and even the 90s. At the end of the video though, once he destroys the bush, his FPS climbs into the 160s.
It is currently unknown what is causing this bug or if there is any way to get around it while still interacting with bushes. For now, players should probably just stay away from bushes altogether.
This isn't the first time that players' framerates have been affected by cosmetics or items in the game. A few Season 3 skins, like the Blaze Renegade Raider skin, have also been known to drop the FPS unexpectedly.
Devs at Epic Games have not yet commented on the issue, but players can expect them to say something about such a massive bug in the game very soon. Even with the new underwater design, bushes are all over the map, making them extremely difficult to avoid. If players can't move around without worrying about a massive lag, there isn't really a point in playing Fortnite until the issue is resolved.
