Circuit events are something that are often spoken about in the Melee community, but it's pretty rare that somebody actually does anything with them. It's very difficult to get everything organized properly for a circuit, and all local TOs need to be on board.
The advantage is that a well-executed circuit gives people something to look forward to past locals. For the best locals, it means they're gonna have another stacked event they're invited to, and for everybody else, it's a great time for upsets.
And now, TOs in the Tri-state area are banding together to create a new circuit for specifically for their region.
To sum up their official Reddit announcement, the top three scoring players from NY, NJ, NYC, and CT will be auto-invited to a 16-man invitational, with the last four spots being given out to the remaining players across regions with the most points.
And because no big event is complete without one, they even gave us a hype video!
Even without intimate familiarity of the Tri-state scene, there are some super notable names up on the list like Ryan "The Moon" Coker-Welch and James "Swedish Delight" Liu.
The event should be great, and as the Reddit post mentioned, they've even got a donation goal to make it a Smash Summit-esque invitational in Massachusetts.
Perhaps Aziz "Hax$" Al-Yami will be performing well enough by the end of the circuit to make it in. That'd be crazy hype.
