Witmer Steps Away From Professional CS:GO

Shawn "witmer" Taylor will step down from competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensivefor the foreseeable future, he announced Tuesday.

In a TwitLonger post, witmer detailed some of the successes and struggles he had in his time with CS:GO that ultimately led to his decision. A combination of life issues, his play, motivation and the CS:GO scene itself inspired his desire to step aside.

Witmer has played for multiple organizations in the scene including Denial eSports, compLexity Gaming, Mythic and GX. His most recent significant placings come from his win with Ownage at Fragadelphia 11 and a seventh-eighth place finish during the ESEA Season 26: Global Challenge.

For now, witmer said, he'll still keep his visibility in the scene: "I’m not going anywhere. I’m honestly waiting for a desk and I’ll still be playing rank S and streaming it, as well as a myriad of other games. I want to be in esports, I know I have the brain for the game to maybe cast/analyze, MANY MANY people have told me to coach, so I’m taking what I learned from jamezirl and prepping myself for that logistically if I am lucky enough for that to be an opportunity."
