CoD Leaker Believes SBMM Will be Reworked for Modern Warfare 2

Since the rise of streamers, SBMM has been one of the most controversial systems ever created. Developers have strived for years on creating a competitive and fair matchmaking system, trying to place evenly skilled players up against one another. Usually, the mark is in competitive matches, where players earn ranks and tiers, pitting them up against players of similar ranks, but in battle royale matches, it can be difficult to have such a system. Instead, developers create a skill-based matchmaking system that shadow ranks you and places you in certain lobbies.

So why do players get so upset about a system meant to make the game balanced? Because it puts all the try-hards in one lobby. First, streamers start complaining about having sweaty games because they want to rack up a high amount of kills in front of their viewers, having a stress-free time. Once they get placed with people just as sweaty, the fun factor goes down. Then the thousands of players that watch streamers start complaining because their favorite streamer complains. It's a vicious cycle.

The irony in the problem is it's only try-hards and content creators who complain about the SBMM. One thinks they're better than they actually are and the other wants to make money. And good news for both groups because Modern Warfare 2 will apparently receive some type of change for SBMM.

According to leaker RalphsValve, SBMM is going to be reworked and made less restrictive. It's a strange place to be in; good enough to play at a high level, but bad enough to complain about playing other good players.

For better or worse, the matchmaking system is going to be reworked. Let's hope everyone can stop complaining now.
