CD Projekt Red introduced Cyberpunk 2077 in a short trailer that nevertheless packed in a ton of world-building detail.
But never fear, we are here to dissect it! These run deeper than the very clever hidden message that CD Projekt Red included in a single dang frame at the very end of the video.
Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in the same setting as the tabletop roleplaying game Cyberpunk 2020. Knowing that, we can pick out a ton of details that CD Projekt Red went above and beyond to include in this short trailer for a game that doesn’t even have a release date yet.
Name-checked in this trailer are a bunch of corporations from the Cyberpunk RPG, like Militech and Arasaka. We know that it takes place in Night City, and a subway map in the first scene of the trailer may give us a glimpse of the open world that we’ll be blasting our way through ... someday.
