Halo Infinite Forge Delayed for 'Generational Leap Forward'

343 Industries has explained the delay of Halo Infinite's Forge mode, saying the feature will see "another generational leap forward," in terms of its capabilities.

Forge is a fan-favorite game mode first introduced in Halo 3 that has appeared in nearly every subsequent Halo game. It allows players to create custom maps using the assets already in the game, unleashing the creativity of a community of millions.

I have zero hype about anything related to Halo at this point. The game has pretty much died for me until Forge comes out.

Although 343 Industries planned to include the game mode in Halo Infinite, it was forced to delay Forge's release when Halo Infinite launched.

"It broke our hearts to not be able to launch Forge alongside the rest of Infinite but to ensure it meets the bar we're setting for it to achieve, this massive overhaul to Forge in Infinite just wasn't able to make it out before the end last year," 343 Industries said in a blog post published Friday.

"It's very much another generational leap forward in what it will be capable of and brings with it many of the community's highly requested features which we believe will greatly empower the community to build WAY more impressive and creative gameplay experiences inside of Infinite."

343 plans to release Forge to players some time in Halo Infinite Season 3, which, based on the length of Seasons 1 and 2, is currently expected to arrive in August. The studio released a roadmap for new features in Season 2 last month.
