How Many Companions Are in the Outer Worlds?
Many of the game's companions can be recruited in Edgewater, but players will likely run into Parvati first. Found in Reed Tompson's office on the top floor of the Cannery, Parvati is the only companion in the game that players can recruit without completing a quest first.
Vicar Max lives in Emerald Vale, in the Edgewater Church. To recruit him players must complete the Illustrated Manual quest and bring him a forbidden book.
Ellie can be found in the Medical Bay on the Groundbreaker, where she'll be arguing with a clerk. Completing the side quest Worst Contact will prompt her to ask to join as a companion, a request that the player can accept or decline.
Felix can also be found on the Groundbreaker, either directly outside your ship or leaning on a shipping container on the way to the Groundbreaker front desk. Completing either Balance Due or Passage to Anywhere will cue Felix to ask for a place on your crew.
Players can find Nyoka sitting at the bar in the Yacht Club in Monarch. Players must complete the Passion Pills side quest to request her.
Finally, SAM stands in a storage room on the second floor of the Unreliable, beside the crew cabin. Interacting with him will unlock the Cleaning Machine quest, which players can then complete to recruit him to their crew.
