3306 You know that many servers are default MySQL port number. Likewise, it is the default port in Maria database installed on localhost. But have you ever thought this port is so dangerous? While running on Windows, MySQL 5.5.8 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer out of reference) through a packet prepared for TCP port 3306.
With a newly developed ddos exploit, you can see that the 3306 port is disconnected from the sites, and all MySQL sites (Forum, Blog etc.) crashed. NetSol, a victim of this exploit, showed how dangerous the malware was by shutting down 300,000 sites. Exploit wrote a Turk, showed that MySQL server without disabling disable your site without damaging your server in seconds thousands of sites on the field Turkey. Measure: Change your MySQL port address and maximize your current firewall settings.
