Pokemon Go Error 26 is a particularly frustrating glitch that causes Pokémon encountered out in the wild to despawn. Rare Pokémon can appear and disappear before the player can catch them.
Fortunately for those players affected by the error, there is a fix. Here's how to avoid an egregious Error 26 occurrence.
@NianticHelp the first time a friend of mine had the chance to catch a shiny Pokémon out of c-day. As she tried to catch it she only got the error 26.

Pokemon Go Error 26: How to Fix it
Pokémon Go Hub states Error 26 occurs when players are kicked out of gym combat scenarios. It is likely caused by a delayed server response. Clicking on a nearby Pokémon after the error can often cause a lag spike or data usage increase indicating a large client-server sync.
According to one Redditor, u/Alviento, the error can be solved by following these steps:
- Find the Pokémon in question in your storage (including same name, CP and date of error)
- Delete it
- Catch it again from the stack
While this solution doesn't make the error go away entirely, it neuters its negative effects, allowing trainers to play on without fear of losing Pokémon.
